An Evening with Patricia Nelson Limerick
Free event and open to all.
Patricia Nelson Limerick is an American historian, author, lecturer and teacher, considered to be one of the leading historians of the American West. Co-founder and Director of the Center of the American West, she was named Colorado State Historian in 2016.
She was awarded a MacArthur Fellowship, and is past president of the Organization of American Historians, the American Studies Association, and the Western History Association. She is known for The Legacy of Conquest, and Something in the Soil, among others in a body of historical writing sometimes known as the New Western History.
Patty’s distinctive approach to the often-romanticized American West brings a clear-eyed social and political analysis of our region’s past that fosters community resilience by encouraging inclusiveness and increased engagement in its future.
This event is hosted by Hare in the Gate Productions and Harney County Library and supported by Oregon Humanities and the Oregon Community Foundation.
